Ankle & Foot Orthoses
An ankle foot orthosis (ankle brace) is used to improve walking patterns by reducing, preventing or limiting movement of the lower leg and foot and by supporting weak muscles. They are also used to maintain joint alignment, accommodate deformity and to help reduce spasticity.
An AFO (ankle foot orthosis) is a brace that is designed to couple the foot and lower leg together in order to restore optimum function to the entire lower extremity. AFO’s come in many different styles and are fabricated from a wide variety of materials including plastics, leather and carbon graphite.
