Lumbar-Sacral ORTHOSES
Restrict mobility of the trunk and support weak spinal muscles.
A back brace is used if a patient needs support for their back.
Back braces also help in reducing back pain, prevent injuries, assist in recovery, and stimulate correct posture and spine alignment. The design of a back brace usually entails elastic compression bands, rigid plastic or metals, or a combination of both. Back braces may either be custom-fitted or prefabricated. Prefabricated back braces are available and do not require fitting and molding.
An individual may need a back brace for the following reasons:
- spine stabilization after trauma or injury to correct posture issues
- work activities or lifestyles that increase the risk of back strain/injury.
- Degenerative disc disease of the lumbar spine
- Herniated disc
- Stenosis
- Spondylosis
- Spondylolisthesis
- Pain/injury
- Post/pre op
Cervical (neck BONE) ORTHOSES
Treat multiple types of neck injuries and conditions while permitting the wearer to be mobile. Designed to control head movement and neck function, cervical orthoses vary greatly in the degree to which they immobilize the neck and unload head weight.
An individual may need a cervical (neck brace) for the following reasons:
- Degenerative disc disease of the cervical spine
- Cervicalgia
- Cervical radiculopathy
- Cervical spondylosis
- Cervical dic herniation
- Post op
